It can be a real challenge to think about purchasing graduation gifts of all of your friends if you are all graduating at the same time. Lots of people make great friends while they are in college. Similar interests are found when classmates share social circles, degree programs, and recreational activities. Before you know it, you are running with a cohort that is around the same age, and people who are interested in the same things. Because of this very thing, your best friends end up in the same graduating class as you. So what do you do when fifteen of your closest friends are all graduating at the same time, with you?
Think about whether you really need to give your friends actually graduation gifts. Are you getting caught up in the expectation that you need to give every graduation person in your life a special something to show that you care for them and are proud of them? Your friends already know that you are proud of their achievements. You know how much time and energy it took to graduate, because you have been in the same classes and lab sessions with them for the last two to three years. Get together with your friends, and ask them if they really want a graduation gift from you.
A real friend will understand where you are coming from when you ask them about graduation gifts. The best gift you can give someone is the gift of time, energy, and friendship. Consider organizing a group party or a night out to celebrate your achievements. You can all go in a choose a nice restaurant or club together, ad set a time in the evening for all of your other friends to come a join you. If you reserve a party room, you will be able to relax for a couple of hours and enjoy your own graduation celebration, without the pressure of purchasing gifts for fifteen to twenty other people.
However, if you have one or two close friends, think about giving them a small token gift, with a card, when they graduate. You may know them very well, and you may have some inside information about what it took for them to get to this point, and graduate. Or perhaps they will be moving away in a matter of months. In that case, take the time and energy to create a special graduation gift for those who you are close to.
